THE STORY
Winegrowers since 1750, the Dumont family is established in the very South of Champagne appellation, on the Côte des Bar, kingdom of Pinot Noir!
In 2019, Domaine de Mondeville is reconfigured by Laurent, Bernard and Delphine Dumont to attain its current size of 14ha planted in vines.
The vineyard is conducted using organic and biodynamic farming. Vinifications are natural, partially carried out in wood. The dosages are low, in order to express the purest and most elegant expression of Pinot noir on this very specific terroir.
THE TERROIR
In Champignol-lez-Mondeville the terroir is a unique south-facing hillside rising to an altitude of 369m, the highest point in Champagne.
Here, the soils are clay and limestone on a Jurassic mother rock from the Kimmeridgian stage, similar to those of the best Chablis crus.
They produce wines of great elegance and tension, which shows across the whole range of the estate.
THE SPIRIT
“Listen, contemplate and make possible” is the leitmotif at Domaine de Mondeville.
Aware of being established in a place steeped in history, spotted by the Cistercian monks of Clairvaux Abbey in the 12th century, the Dumont family shapes living landscapes day after day.
Their agriculture is holistic, listening to vines and nature. At the crossroads of a sustainable and social approach, their work always needs to be fully integrated in the life of their territory.
